London Fashion Week-QUICKY

London fashion week for Spring 2009 wasn’t very surprising, colorful and artful, yes, innovative rarely. However, some wonderful and very commercial designs were shown by Top-Shop Unique, Luella, Giles and House of Holland. The bright colors of the collections, were banana yellow, bubble gum pink, tangy orange, minty green and for subtle pieces lavender and blue (similar to palace blue in the NY runways). Mixed prints, denim and water paint fabrics along with delicate flower prints were prevalent at the shows.

PS: DO NOT FORGET YOUR BOWS AND HAIR ACCESSORIES ;)

Madonna a la Desperately Seeking Susan was the obvious inspiration for Top Shop Unique, the denim jumpsuits, hair bows and colors are a take back to the early eighties anyone feeling to “get into the groove”?

Tea Time!

Luella had an interesting mix of vintage lady-like pieces with a Chanel-inspired ,oops can’t describe the collection using any Chanel words, (see Chanel press release post).
Tweed and pearls along with beautiful delicate flower print fabrics and feminine ruffle dresses were the joyous look of Luella’s runway. The hair pieces, bows, gloves and the cross- body purses added a wonderful touch to the collection.

Pac-Man anyone? Giles mixed it up with a tribute to one of the greatest 80′s game, check out the helmets and cool prints.

The Mixed Prints-

Polka dots and art graphics were very popular at shows along with photo prints.

Louise Goldin with a tech approach to clothing also looked at the 80′s for inspiration, his collection followed the cult classic movie Tron.

Eley Kishimoto featured cute tights and bright colors.
