Glendy, I agree with Robyn, it's hard to leave your pages once you are here :) - this post in particular caught my interest because I studied fashion design but was always far more interested in the whole process of a concepting a range, the analyzing of trends etc. Being in that dilemma none of my professors was able to point me into the right direction as to what to best do so that I went on studying design without ever working as a designer after. Over time I found my way but a post like this might have helped enormously back then...thanks!

Glendy,

Wow- GREAT post. So many "fashion insiders" are secretive about how they got there, and it's nice to see someone not afraid to reach out!

I've been reading your blog for about an hour now, and I gotta say, I adore it. Your posts are thoughtful and well-written. Your content is insightful and really makes me consider the issue at hand. Thanks for writing such an intelligent fashion blog- I will absolutely be back for more.

Finally, your open question-- I have considered changing my major to fashion, but I'm so close to the end of it, it only makes sense to wrap it up. I'm an English major with a double-minor in Journalism and International Relations. My dream is to write and edit for a fashion magazine, but I would also relish a career in PR or freelance writing and editing.

Hope to see you over at my blog, and I look forward to reading more great posts from you in the future!

Great advice.

I just finished my degree in ecology and now I'm wondering what to do. I considered changing major a few time through school but never took the plunge. I'm now seriously considering taking fashion merchandising, but no decisions yet.
