I ventured out to Target this weekend and the Anna Sui collection caught my eye, I thought wohoo I hit the jack pot but then I started to look through the dresses and this is what I found…

(1) The first dress has to be one of the ugliest dresses I have ever seen of the entire collection. What are those shark sequins doing on a plunging collar? I posted the pic online and thanks to the ever creative Xenia of limecrimemakeup.com she gave it the most appropriate name, the Vagina Dentata dress lol. Also check out the responses from my other awesome tweeps ;)

(2) Paper or plastic? This dress was the reason why I was so hyped up about the Anna Sui for Target collabo, in the look book it looks fantastic but when I saw it on the rack it looked like an old Grey plastic bag with lace cut-outs. My bad blackberry pic gives it more justice than it deserves and even the bow is made of the cheapest velvet you can find, sigh… so much for high expectations.
On the other hand, there were a few cute tops and some adorable dresses but the sizes are a bit off, the XS fits more like a girl’s size 14 and the XL’s are a bit small on top and big on the bottom. If you haven’t gotten the chance to check out the collection you can try and get your hands on a few pieces online. Good Luck!
Much love,
Glendy

And I was just writing about how great AS’s Sring ’09 is, I do not understand this silver tassel dress!
I was SO looking forward to this collection – I logged in immediately the day it was available to find myself disappointed. :\ I understand this is a budget line made of less-than-fancy materials, but it looks like the cheapened out on the DESIGN – and that’s unforgivable. In sharp contrast, Alice Temperley and Erin Featherston collections for Target kicked ass, and I actually own a couple pieces. Come on Anna Sui, you can do better!
Aaaagh! I’ve missed so many of your posts!
Oh dear. Those…dresses (?) are fugly indeed. The colour -or lack thereof- is uninspiring enough, but what is the go with all this shapeless crap going on in the fashion world at the moment? Why do fashion designers think we want to wear a giant pillowcase? And leggings as pants I will NEVER understand. I like clothes that flatter my shape, and none of this insanely baggy shit over “hello world, welcome to my crotch” leggings will ever flatter ANYBODY. Luckily I can sew….but I do look forward to the day that I can walk into a clothing shop and see something I actually like. Sigh! Sorry to rant, but I am fast becoming disillusioned with the fashion world! We are coming into the warmer seasons here, and what do the fashion retailers around here have to offer? F***ing boho/hippy dresses. AGAIN. O.o *groan* My sewing machine will be working very hard from here on in, that’s all i can say!
On a lighter note, I love that dark blue dress you’re wearing a few posts back! You’re one of those lucky gals that can look good in both light AND dark colours. So pretty! >.<
I hate such collared dresses!
And I thought dress 2 looked so nice in the press photos! :(
I haven’t seen the collection in real life, I think I’ll leave it that way so I can still think of it relatively fondly.
