The Haunting of My Fashion Design Past

Many of you may not know this but up until 3 years ago, I was a designer for indie and underground fashion shows. I started designing as a hobby but I was later approached to participate in several avant-garde and over-the-top indie shows at many clubs and venues in NYC. I didn’t get paid for the gigs but I did the shows because I had so much fun and enjoyed the experience. I also got the chance to meet great photographers, artists and models.  However, as I began having more responsibility at my real fashion day job, the designing had to take a back seat. Yesterday, I came across a surprising video on Nylon TV, one of the models Lindsey Scott, who I booked in the past for one of my shows, was interviewed and a picture of her wearing one of my designs was briefly showcased,  check out the 0.10 -0.11 second mark!

These images were take at the  2007 A.C.E Talent showcase and were photographed by Bob Nittoli, Haha the inspiration was circus. Lindsey always knew how to work the camera, I’m so happy for her and her new career :)

This was also one of my crazy designs for the same showcase, the model is Erin Saltman who holds a Master’s degree in International Politics and is a also a professional model, she is by far the best runway walker I have ever come across! Photos by Bob Nittolli

Although, I have kept my design history hidden for a while, after seeing one of my designs surface on Nylon TV, I felt extremely proud. In the past,  I didn’t have any support from my family and that’s why I had decided to keep it a secret. However, right now, I feel I’m a in a place where my creativity is overflowing again, I have new ideas and inspiration but I am also working on something very special, I’ll keep you guys posted as I complete this project.

Much love always,
