I wanted to share with you guys a wonderful cause called Same Sky, it’s a collective that gives women who are HIV positive and Rwandan genocide survivors a chance to rebuild their lives by learning a trade and being employed so they may provide for their families. Unlike, many charities I have come across, Same Sky doesn’t just give a handout instead artisans train women in a collective to build glass blown crocheted bracelets while working full time and earning an income. Thanks to the collective the women also receive a stipend to cover transportation, meals and their HIV medicine. All proceeds from the bracelets are re-invested in other areas to train and help women in need. The cost of the bracelets are $145.00 -$160.00, although it’s a moderate price think of the change and benefit your help will be providing these women who were survivors of a horrible genocide where many women were raped and infected with a death sentence. For more info about this charity follow the links below and watch the touching video. If you would like to purchase a bracelet you can visit the Same Sky Store.
SameSky.com, a collective of Rwandan women, genocide survivors (HIV+ as well), who are creating beautiful bracelets in a sustainable business venture that is transforming their community.
