Celebrating the Beauty of Arab Women & Our Diverse Culture

I was ecstatic yesterday after hearing that we had an immigrant Arab-American Miss U.S.A for the first time in the United States! Rima Fakih, is a beautiful and stunning Lebanese Muslim woman, I’m very happy that amongst the controversy, the racial profiling and the ignorant attitude some of our citizens have against people of different cultures and ethnicities, we can still celebrate and support women of diverse nationalities and backgrounds. I also received a pleasant surprise when I saw the newest Swarovski collection for the middle east and Arab nations, the collection is called Jawaher and it celebrates the beauty and glamour of Arabian women world-wide.  Many designers embellished their wonderful garments, jewelry and accessories with Swarovski’s crystallized elements and added a touch of the region’s history and elegant beauty, check out the pics!

And the winner is…..Miss America 2010 – Rima Fakih

Let’s hope this coronation is a stepping stone towards acceptance and understanding of the diverse people that make this country America,  I hope the state of Arizona learns that racial and ethnic profiling is not the answer and that a long-term solution is better than alienating the majority of the state’s Latino residents.

Much love,

I so agree with you; I was sooo pleased that a Lebanese muslim girl won – isn’t it mean to be the land of the free? Yet so many nasty commentators are choosing to see it as some sort of Hezbollah/Mujahadeen plot. How ridiculous!!

As to this post…I love excessive bling..but the eyelid bling that goes all the way out to the temple? I’M IN LOVE!!

I love these images! So inspiring :) the eyelashes picture flored me, but everything here is really great. I’m so glad you posted about this. I have a lot of friends that come from different areas of the middle east and they’ve told me all about the ways some women choose to make their own fashion statements, sometimes specifically with their hijabs, sometimes not, but always beautiful! I feel like there’s a strong focus on detail…either way, thanks for sharing :)

Stunning!!!! I absolutely love the eye crystals. Kind of reminds me of Alicia Keys at the Grammy’s back 200? Anyway, I was also excited for Rima winning, she was classy and of course gorgeous!
