On Monday, Henry and I decided to take a stroll in Central Park and enjoy the beautiful weather in NYC.  We wanted to rent a rowboat but the line was insane and we didn’t want to wait for hours, so we decided to walk to one of my favorite locations in the park, The Bethesda Fountain and Lower Passage.

I’ve shown you a sneak-peak of all the fall high-end designer campaigns and today I came across retail maven Bebe‘s fall 2010 “Chanel” barn inspired campaign. The upcoming fall pieces look great, I like the faux-fur and feather jackets, the dresses and accessories are super sexy, check out the pics!

Last week, I showed you some of the insane purchases I made at H&M and Aldo, Henry and I decided to do a mini-shoot in an abandoned boiler room for my outfit diary, inspired by the futuristic Sci-fi print on the McQueen-esque H&M dress.  I altered the dress and took off one sleeve because I felt the neckline and long sleeves looked too busy. I hope you guys like the dark sci-fi theme :)

Today, Macy’s launched the Material Girl collection and to celebrate the line’s kick-off, an amazing event was held at Macy’s in Herald Square.

I headed out with Henry (my photog) and didn’t know what to expect, in reality we never thought how insane Macy’s can get when you mix Madonna and Taylor Momsen fans together.  The place was super packed and the dog pit (the press area) included some rowdy paparazzi.  Although, chaotic at first, Taylor looked fab as always and was super nice to all her fans.  She sang a few songs from her band (Pretty Reckless) and I have to admit girlfriend has an amazing voice!

The collection is very cute and reminiscent of Madonna’s 80′s iconic style, I liked the silhouette and fun prints of the dresses.  To honor the “Material Girl”, I decided to wear a leopard crop-top and a long black skirt to honor Ally Sheedy from my favorite 80′s movie, The Breakfast Club, hahaha. Yesterday, my fiance (Henry), Jenny and I decided to gear up and head to NYC’s famous, Coney Island.  I wanted to see the newest additions and changes to the park since my last visit… about 15 years ago, lol.  For many of my readers who live outside New York, you may not be familiar with the theme park or may only hear about it every 4th of July when it hosts Nathan’s hot dog eating contest (more on that to come).  Coney Island, is a kitschy sea side carnival and sideshow theme park.  The park is over 100 years old and it has changed but not drastically, now a new park, with an old name (Luna Park) has been added within Coney Island’s oldest rides like the Cyclone Roller-Coaster and The Wonder Wheel.  However, I still prefer the kitschy carnival resort feel over the new park and rides.  Coney Island, is raunchy, tacky but always amazing and unique, check out the pics!

Nathan’s first stand opened in 1916 and it’s still popular and packed since the day it opened, amazing!

I had my gallbladder removed late last year and haven’t had a hot dog since, what best place to have my first post-op hot dog and fries than Nathan’s.

Many people may not know this but I’m a scardy cat when it comes to haunted houses, last time I was on this ride I came out crying and had my eyes closed 90% of the time, ahahaha.

These are Luna Park’s main gates, the decor is beautiful but inside I only found kiddie rides and nothing unique to brag about. I hope in the future Coney Island will become a better theme park without loosing it’s original and centennial charm.

H&M is one of favorite stores, I like the fit of the clothes and know my size by heart. However, a few days ago I saw this tulip skirt dress on a mannequin and fell in love, instead of following my better judgment and trying it on first, I decided to buy it immediately before it was gone. When I got home, I was ecstatic to try on my new dress but I realized it made me look terrible!

The dress on it’s own looks chic and it looked great on a super skinny 6 feet tall mannequin but on a 5’0″ petite girl is a disaster.  I should’ve known that a tulip skirt would make my hips look 3 times bigger,  also I’m a bit busty and that neckline made my chest look wider, to top it off the skirt shape and length made me look shorter! I also picked out some cute accessories to go with the dress which were my only best buys, check them out….

I wanted affordable accessories so I stopped by forever 21 and noticed this beautiful chandelier faux crystal necklace, I couldn’t resist.

I also bought this huge (almost half the size of my index finger) clear ring with crystals. I also picked up this bracelet at H&M which ended up being my only good purchase at the store.

Finally….

I’m so embarrassed

ughhhh…… alright here it is in all it’s fugliness :/

Remember, no matter how great an item looks on a rack or on a mannequin, always try it on first! I think I’ve learned my lesson, maybe :P
